OUT OF CRISIS
DE/PL/UA curators’ symposium
July 21 - 24, 2023
NOMUS / New Art Museum, branch of the National Museum in Gdańsk
Out Of Crisis is a title of curatorial symposium organized in Gdańsk. Out Of Crisis is not only the reason for the project, but also the active path we are taking. Our symposium is the way out of the current setback, towards finding ideas to overcome the situation. This international (DE/PL/UA) symposium in the shadow of the crisis was intended to present the current situation from a multi-layered perspective and to be a place where prevention and solutions are sought. It is also meant to be an artistic way out of the caesura. The event focused on collaborative work processes and artistic research in global, transcultural contexts that open up possibilities for joint learning and the production of new knowledge across national borders. We were promoting international networks in contemporary visual art.
The aim of the meeting was to exchange views on challenges and opportunities in the contemporary arts scene, develop ideas and proposals, promote coordination and networking among curators and artists. The meeting filled a crucial gap as there is a lack of opportunities for – in particular independent – curators to discuss strategies on how to overcome financial, societal or political constraints.
