with Sophie Schweighart & Zoé Rossmannek
Opening Friday, August 13, 2021
August 13 - 28, 2021
In a consumer society like the present one, partying is a habitually inscribed part of every subculture, of every generation. Numbing oneself at parties, indulging in excess and thus escaping from everyday life continues beyond the borders of the global pandemic, is even becoming more extreme in the increasing time. Sophie Schweighart and Zoé Rossmannek reflect such a night. In the Nails Projectroom, one of these said parties will be made visible. The remains of the night will become object trouvés in the exhibition space.
For this concept, an identically recreated Nails Projectroom will be constructed and built in a different location. The traces of the night, from rumpled sofa cushions and broken glasses to forgotten objects found by the partygoers and the smallest details such as cigarette butts, chewed gum or hair are archived and transferred to the original project room. The archiving process of the space is carried out in a small-scale and documentary manner in order to enable an exact reconstruction and conscious setting of the original state of the space. Just as the night ends in the translocated room, it finds itself faithfully assembled as an installed still life in Birkenstraße. The atmosphere of a past, raucous party night is transplanted with all its smells, traces and details.
